Parmesan 5 Ways
Rated 5.0 stars by 1 users
Made by Mama's parmesan is aged for 27 months, because this is when the cheese's balance between fatness and acidity is absolutely perfect. It is produced in a small town in Emilia-Romagna, where award-winning cheese masters work tirelessly to achieve the perfect Parmigiano Reggiano. Here are 5 tips for how to use your Parmesan. Buon appetito!
Directions
Snack pieces: Break the cheese with a real parmesan knife. A large part of the enjoyment is in the smell, so remember to smell the parmesan before you sink your teeth into it.
Cheese crusts: Cut the rinds off the cheese and freeze them in smaller pieces. Use a piece to flavor stews, soups and pasta sauces.
Finely grated: Use finely grated parmesan in salad dressings, for example for Caesar salad, or sprinkle parmesan "snow" over a finished salad.
Planed flakes: Grate Parmesan over hot dishes or salads. Use a Made by Mama truffle iron for this!
Coarsely torn: Sprinkle coarsely grated parmesan over pizza or dishes to be gratinated in the oven. Also suitable for parmesan crisps (See our recipe for this in the Recipes tab!).
