Classic Caprese

Caprese is the most simple and elegant way to enjoy in-season tomatoes. The creamy mozzarella perfectly complements the sweetness and acidity of the tomatoes. And a Caprese is incomplete without a top quality Italian extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar from Modena. Made by Mama's vinegar has the perfect consistency for Caprese, as it is not too thick or too runny.
Ingredients

2-3 ripe tomatoes (we love to include a variety of different colored tomatoes)

1 large mozzarella

Fresh basil leaves

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 500ml

Balsamic vinegar from Modena IGP

Italian sea salt

Fresh ground pepper
Directions
Slice the mozzarella and tomatoes into your desired shapes - we like ¼ inch slices.
Arrange the tomato, mozzarella and basil on a serving dish with the pieces overlapping. The ratio of mozzarella to tomato is entirely adjustable, but we usually keep it approximately 1:1.
Pour any remaining tomato juices from the cutting board over top. Drizzle a generous amount of olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad. Add a few cracks of Italian sea salt and pepper, and serve!
Recipe Note
We like to keep the oil and vinegar on the table, so our guests can add more as they please.
